Having started with a journalism degree I knew the traditional journalism route wasn’t for me. Social media, editing content and writing blog posts over writing hard-hitting news articles for a national paper was the digital path I took.
From working as a deputy editor for a website for chefs and also for an online music magazine to working in the marketing department of a university, all the while developing my social media skills and understanding how to apply these to various audiences. Fast forward a few years and social media is the majority of my current role, what I am constantly reading about and what I do for a cake business.
Running the social media for Sugarpaste Dreams means when Instagram decides to change its algorithm, Twitter increases its character limit or Facebook only really shows videos in feeds nowadays I need to know about it and know how to change tactic to get the cake posts seen and engaged with.
I’m always testing out numerous apps that edit photos, overlay text, create GIFs/videos and collages so my phone is never really out of my hand.
